Welcome to the website of best-selling author Steven Dunne.
Steven’s latest DI Damen Brook thriller, The Unquiet Grave, has been shortlisted for the East Midlands Book Award 2014, the most prestigious literary award in the region.
The award is open to the writers of fiction, creative non-fiction and poetry and the inclusion of The Unquiet Grave on the shortlist caps a year which has seen Steven’s book receive fantastic reviews from readers around the globe.
The hardback and Kindle editions were published on July 4th 2013, followed by the paperback in October. They are also all available on Amazon. You can enjoy this latest thriller even if you haven’t read the previous Brook novels – although, of course, we’d love you to read them all!
You can also find an audio version of The Unquiet Grave at Audible, along with earlier novels. Narrated by Gareth Armstrong, this is a full unabridged version of the book and has received excellent reviews.
Steven’s had a really busy 12 months, researching and writing the latest twists and turns, but the response from reviewers and readers alike has been fantastic.
Here’s what book reviewer Liz Wilkins had to say: ‘A clever crime novel, a ‘whodunnit’ but also a tense race against time to save a life. And what was truly brilliant? I was honestly not sure whether or not the clock would be beaten and Brook would emerge triumphant- and you won’t be either.’
‘I want you to put it on your lists folks. And if you haven’t met Brook yet – well what are you waiting for? You have time! For the events leading up to ‘The Unquiet Grave’ it is fine to start with ‘Deity’.
‘A tip for readers, I know that it’s helpful to know if a series MUST be read in order. Mr Dunne’s books are all stunning in their own way – but each can be read on its own merits,’ she added.
Over on Amazon, the overwhelming majority of readers have been giving the Unquiet Grave a full five stars. Here’s a selection of comments from the reviews:
This really is high-end crime writing, excellently constructed and throwing enough red herrings around to both challenge and thrill the reader.
The Unquiet Grave’ has all the required ingredients of a great crime thriller. It’s gritty, exciting, has lots of twists and turns and some very shocking revelations indeed. It really kept me guessing and the result wasn’t what I expected. I can tell that Steven Dunne has given lots of thought to this book. I recommend it to fans of crime fiction.
Remarkable book well worth avoiding life, eating and sleeping to finish. Be prepared for late nights as you won’t want to put it down! One of those books you don’t want to finish so that it’s not over. When you get to the last page you want more. Lucky those of you who have the back catalogue to catch up with and for those of us up to date we are left to nag the author on Facebook to write faster!
It’s dark, gritty, chilling and the crimes committed are some of the darkest you can imagine.
What I like most was the twist and turns throughout the book, some I was left reeling with shock. They quite literally caught you off guard, signs of a writer who knows exactly what he is doing.
This is an author I will certainly be looking out for in the Future. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to be kept up all night and chilled to the bone.
